One coordinated visit

What your preoperative evaluation may include

Your evaluation is tailored to your health history, the planned procedure, anesthesia requirements, and the specific orders from your surgeon.

01

Medical history review

We review your medical conditions, medications, allergies, prior surgeries, and any previous anesthesia concerns.

02

Focused physical exam

A physician assesses your current health and identifies issues that may need attention before surgery.

03

Required testing

We can coordinate commonly requested laboratory work and perform an ECG when clinically appropriate or requested.

04

Documentation

Once the necessary information is available, we prepare the evaluation and send it to your surgical team as authorized.

Please note: A preoperative evaluation is a medical risk assessment, not a guarantee that surgery will proceed. Additional testing or specialist consultation may be needed based on your health and your surgeon’s requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Before your appointment

How far before surgery should I schedule?

Follow the timeframe given by your surgeon. Scheduling early is best, especially if laboratory results, imaging, or a specialist opinion may be required.

Do I need my surgeon’s paperwork?

Yes, whenever possible. The order tells us exactly which tests, forms, and deadlines your surgical team requires. If you do not have it, contact the surgeon’s office before your visit.

Are preoperative evaluations covered by insurance?

Cosmetic surgery preops are not covered by insurance and we offer incredible rates for this. Coverage for medical surgeries vary by plan and by the services ordered. Please contact your insurer for benefit details. Our team can also discuss available payment options.

Can every patient be cleared in one visit?

Not always. Clearance depends on the exam, requested test results, medical history, and the type of procedure. Some patients need additional testing or evaluation by a specialist.

Can you order a chest X-ray if my surgeon requires one?

Yes. We can provide an imaging order when needed. Imaging is completed at a nearby facility which most patients find incredibly easy. No additional fees are rquired at the imaging center for self pay patients.

Do I need to go somewhere else to get Labs or the EKG done?

No. All labs can be drawn at the time of the visit and results are generally available the next day. EKG is done on site and results are available immediately.

My surgery is soon. Can I come in today?

We can often accomodate patients for preop evaluations on the same day. Please call us and we will do our best to fit you in as soon as possible.
